Reason #1: EXPERIENCE

So, you just had surgery on your ACL…and meniscus…and MCL. Was it a hamstring graft or a patellar tendon graft? Allograft or autograft? Or may it was a cartilage transplant?

No matter what the combination of structures or type of surgery, we know how to rehab it. Our board-certified orthopedic specialist PTs have seen it all. We know the nuances of each type of surgery. Working closely with your surgeon and their protocol, we’ll get you through the process and help you reach your goals in the safest and most effective way possible.

Reason #2: ATTENTION TO DETAIL

Physical Therapy after an ACL reconstruction requires a knowledge of the different phases of rehab. This includes the criteria you need to achieve in order to progress into each phase and the timeline in which this should occur.

For example, it’s important to get full knee extension (get your knee straight) right away. You should be able to perform a good quad contraction before doing many standing exercises, and should have near symmetrical range of motion and strength between each leg before beginning to run.

Choose a Physical Therapist that knows the criteria you must achieve and that will make sure you hit these milestones on time.

At PhysioRX, all of your sessions are with your specialist. This ensures that you are being progressed the right way, and that you don’t get treated like a number and fall between the cracks in a busy, overcrowded clinic.

Reason #3: WE KNOW WHEN TO TAKE IT EASY, AND KNOW WHEN TO STEP IT UP

Did you know your new ACL is weakest when it’s 7-9 weeks old? And that your ACL reaches 50% of the normal strength of an ACL at the 1-2 year mark? Our Physical Therapists understand the process and the physiology behind it, and will tailor your program based on this knowledge.

Reason #4: WE GET TO KNOW YOU

Since all of our appointments are one-on-one, we get the opportunity to learn about you. This will allow us to make the rehab process targeted towards YOUR specific goals. This is the definition of individualized care!

Reason #5: SPORT (AND LIFE) SPECIFIC TRAINING

Because we’ll have time to get to know you and learn your specific goals, we can prepare you for them!

The end of the rehab process should include a pretty strict, evidence-based, return to sport testing protocol. We use the best tests in the literature to ensure that you’re safe to go back to your sport. They might include:

  • single leg hop testing
  • step down testing
  • Y-Balance Test
  • triple hop for distance
  • isometric strength testing
  • single leg squats for repetitions

Soccer? Basketball? Martial Arts? Crossfit? Just let us know and we’ll get you ready for whatever it is you like to do. We’ll be as specific as possible to make sure you get back safely and stronger than ever.

Not a competitive athlete? No problem! Whether your goal is to play with your kids on the weekends or just tackle those subway stairs everyday- we’ve got you covered. We’ll get you strong for whatever it is your goals are.
